Pete's Art House and Garden.
- 4 Beds
- 2 Baths
Built in 1971 by renowned local builders this 6o's style house has been sympathetically renovated with a flexible open plan to incorporate outdoor and indoor living spaces. The original garden was designed by local legend Claude Crowe, incorporating his trademark uses of camellia, Japanese maple, rose and conifers that offered the current owner a great framework to build upon. Pete has extended these themes creating classic Japanese rooms through the use of Russian olive hedge, native callitris and Lily Pilli. Soak up the ambiance created by the Koi pond, extensive pebbled areas, and plantings of Japanese conifers and weeping Japanese maple that create a serene country environment. And all just a 10-minute walk to the restaurants in the centre of town. The house has a flexible open plan design with four double bedrooms and two living areas both surrounding the kitchen and breakfast bar in the centre of the house. A serene mood is created in the living areas by providing extensive views of the garden with easy access. The flexible design allowed Pete to operate his property as Bed and Breakfast through Air BnB for a year returning $600 a weekend while still living onsite.
Pete wants to retire to Tassie so offers his creation for sale. His home offers the new owner many years of tranquillity with little effort. It takes 15 mins to mow the lawn and all the hard work is done with the garden now offering extensive plantings and very little weeding or clipping for a garden of this order.
